Allen Simpson is a dream for Democrats in close races with retirees in their district

30 second TV ads with him saying the pig is dead and anything else about social security and then an announcer stating "If the republicans and Allen Simpson win in November will you get your December social security check?"

Scare the shit out of them.

6. OK how does pointing out that the leader of your party put a racist classist hack in a position of
power HELP your party's election chances?

Please enlighten me.

8. The elections are individual races. If you have to you throw your party's president under the bus

You just have to scare them into thinking their check is going to be messed with and you are the one who will defend it.

Something along the lines of "And if the President decides to agree with Senator Simpson, I'll stop him too!"

9. and Pelosi arranged for a vote
on Simpson's recommendations without debate last spring (voted in the spring that they will have an up/down vote in December). Both parties are setting us up to get screwed and trying to avoid responsibility/accountability but you can make a good case that Obama and Pelosi are leading the attack.

2. ummmm, but, uh, Obama has put Simpson in the ....
deficit reduction commission. The repugs did not.

What if the Repugs run an ad that says "Obama put Simpson in the deficit reduction comission, knowing full well that he would be gunning for Social Security, Medicare, medicaid. Us Repugs didn't"

7. It's been a great way to introduce one of the Dems favorite

issues --Social Security into this election.

You all know that the co-chairmanship Simpson holds had to be held by a Repub?

Why should Obama fire him? He's a great gift to the Dems this election cycle.

He'd just have to be replaced with another Repub who might be smart enough to keep quiet about the GOP's interest in privatizing SS.
