What it means if the taxcuts do not expire?

It means we will not have enough revenue to run our government and the deficits will continue to grow out of control or spending cuts will have to be made to all programs, social and otherwise. Our country will deteriorate rapidly.

We will not have enough money for our infrastructure. We will not have enough money for Social Security or other social programs. We will not have enough money to educate our children. We will not have the basic necessities for a civilized country.

It is a basic truth that there is no free lunch. Taxes are what we pay for a civilized society. We put our money together because no one person or group can afford what the people as a whole might need.

It means that the very wealthiest people will accrue more and more of the wealth of the country and the lower working class will expand exponentially as more and more of the middle class disappear. We are seeing it already. If we do not turn it around, it will get much, much worse.

It is not just about "fairness", it is about what kind of country do we want? That is what the taxcuts mean to all of America. We must have a progressive income tax or we will all lose. That is the bottom line.

4. I think in the long run taxes will go up for everyone by quite a bit.

We all need to plan for that day and make sure we do not over extend ourselves.

and if the wages were tied to production as they were from the 1940's to the late 1970's, then we all could pay more in taxes. I would love to be in the top tax bracket. I promise you I would not complain.
