A friend of mine has a view on the Koran burning thing
This guy used to work at a recycling place, predominantly paper, and he was a lead man, meaning he was in charge of the 2nd shift skeleton crew. Well part of the duties they had to do was rip covers off of hardcover books before recycling. Once they got a load of bibles in and Vern told me that the crew refused to tear off the covers. So he said, "What the hell, someone has to do it." and he proceeded to start tearing covers off. He said they were all agahst. But as he said, someone had to do it. It may be a holy book but they get old and worn out and they need to be recycled just like any other old books.
I suspect recycling them is better than burning them. Same with the Koran.

3. I wonder if the Koran-burning people realize...
They have to get ahold of a Koran before they can burn one?

4. That's not a view on the "Koran burning thing".
It's anecdote about recycling.

The "Koran burning thing" is not about recycling used or worn out texts. It's about inflaming hatred and provoking a reaction.

Ironically, unusable Bibles are most correctly decommissioned by burning them in a ceremonial procedure. But I've not seen anyone object to them being recycled like your friend experienced. The key being "unusable".

8. You're excused.
But you didn't "offend" me in any way.

You post just demonstrated a lack of understanding about what the "Koran burning" issue actually is. At best, it was unclear if you knew what the issue is from your OP.

9. Korans and bibles are useful if you have a table with a short leg.
Uh, I obviously have no horse in this race.
