64. I don't think it was an illegal invasion.
Seems like the rest of the world agreed and aided the Afgahnistan action.
However, I think there are some sort of laws that prevent citizens from doing things to jeapordize troops in harms way.

I'm not happy with the state of things either, but I'd hope we as a people would try to minimize the loss of life on both sides.

FYI, I'm a Vietnam veteran and your seeming lack of understanding for the realities of war--whether you agree or not--are troubling.....

Sure, every time they do something, they provide a reason. And yes, this nuts stunt provides a reason they can exploit. But if not his book burning party, it'll be something else.

Far worse is sad about Muslims on Fox news, or in the comment section of USATODAY ... any of that can be used as a reason.

71. Our essential freedoms are not a fucking card nor are they hostage to the reactions from
the offended.

It is not aiding an enemy in a time of war by any sane definition.

If our troops are in locations with such a drastic cultural difference that we must undo our basic rights as not to offend then our options are to pull out or annihilate.
It doesn't cease to be America because our government elects to kick hornets nests or occupy nations.

We have a limited government which means authority must be given for government to take on powers from the people.

25. I would tell them something like this:
"We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage—and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world."

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty."

19. Not to pick on you alone, because other people are making the same errors you are --
but they really are gigantic errors.

1) You don't understand the concept of "freedom of speech" under our First Amendement, which includes FREEDOM OF EPXRESSION. This is not illegal. It is not arson, it is not cross-burning on someone's lawn to intimidate them, it is not "treason" (I've seen that here in an OP recently) and it is not terrorism!

2) Your whole argument for trying to criminalize this behavior comes down to a strategy of cowering. You tell us that this will endanger the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of our troops. Your whole argument hinges on the concept that Islam is "different" than other religions or other systems of belief in that it is especially prone to violent reactions. You know, maybe you're right. But if so, is abject cowering really the best policy?

3) If Obama did what you wanted him to do, the percentage of people in this country who would tell the next pollster that he's a secret Muslim would quickly rise to around 50%, if not higher. We'd lose the House and we'd lose the Senate. And all the Romneys, Huckabees and Palins of this world would start to salivate, seeing for the first time a great hope for one of them to actually defeat Obama in 2012!

40. Hell it's Florida ... guns are everywhere ...
a significant percentage of citizens normally "pack heat" here (including me). There are 754,548 currently valid Florida concealed weapons permits.

Information as of August 31, 2010
Ref: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/stats/cw_monthly.html

Many other Floridians do not have concealed licenses but carry loaded firearms in their vehicles. The weapon has to be securely encased.

The simplest and most common definition of "securely encased" means it is in a holster or gun rug that is snapped, zipped, or strapped, or in a box or container with a closed lid or top so that the lid or top must be physically opened in order to use or fire the weapon. Securely encased would also allow the firearm or weapon to be placed inside a closed glove compartment or closed console of a vehicle. The firearm may be fully loaded at the time, however, it cannot be concealed on your person unless you also have a CWP.

I knew a retired police officer who carried a Colt 1911 .45 auto in a cigar box on the seat beside him.

Is cutoff any media outlet that broadcasts this shit over their air waves. This is not news. It's no more news then some jerk off calling news channel up and telling them that he and drunk buddies are going to drive their pickup truck over a ravine. What fucking news value is gained here. None. What the fuck is next. Any dumb ass fucking person calling up their news stations and telling them that they are going to burn copies of "Catcher in the Rye" or burn copies of Obama's campaign posters. THIS IS ALL BULLSHIT. If I were Obama I would hold a press conference tomorrow and tell all media outlets that operate within our borders that they are free to broadcast this shit, but if they do they will get nothing more from the White House. No access to news conferences, press releases, nothing. The media is culpable in all this shit. And the god damn know it too.

54. The GOPers could care less about "religous freedom" or any
other idea that our country was founded upon. They're about "Victory" "Anything less is uncivilized"

They must "WIN" even if the country is losing everything of any "value".

They are like a swarm of mindless blood sucking locusts.

66. If we can save even ONE person's life
The abrogation of all of our rights and freedoms would be a small price to pay!
