If he knew what would happen, he would have picked a different spot. That is all I was trying to say too.
He wants to find middle ground. This too is what I thought a righteous man would consider.
Kudos to him.

But I know this is exactly what the GOP would want.
It would make it look as if Obama was taking the side of his "real" religion.

if he stands up for the mosque - he's a muslim, if he doesn't - he doesn't support freedom of religion. They will criticize him no matter what he does about anything.
