More Air Force Propaganda
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, I’ve decided to give ya’ll an unhappycamper summary of the article and a link to the OP. To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.

To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

(This space reserved for a legally correct snark dump.) It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

unhappycamper summary of this article: Were you to read this article, you would see all the fine statistics on the collection effort (sometimes) underway.

Were you to read the first paragraph of this article, you might think that UAVs cost a little over three million dollars each.

Were you to read DU, you would know that Predators cost $13 million dollars each.

Report: AF Academy dropouts owe $10m
By Bruce Rolfsen - Staff writer

Air Force Academy dropouts owe taxpayers nearly $10 million — enough to buy three unmanned aircraft or to build a squadron operations center — because of foot-dragging by the Pentagon’s bill collector, a new report shows.

1. "The Air Force refused to retrain them."
Thats the problem, right there. Casting aside human beings.

So, they washed out of the Academy... I bet a large majority are trainable for other tasks.

2. So they washed out of pilot training,
that's a given that many will (in the day it was 50%). You're right; train them in a non-rated AFSC.

5. 90% plus of the AFSCs are non-rated -- lots of jobs available
from Intell to Admin.

I don't understand the current thinking. Unless someone was washed for permanent medical reasons or for cause (disciplinary), s/he was recycled. Signed up for X years, serve X years.

4. There are a lot of different UAVs
The Predator and Reaper are two different versions of the same airframe.
