False Equivalency between Koran burners and Mosque builders

I have seen a number of blogs and op eds suggesting that the supporters of Cordoba Project are analogous to the Koran-burning minister in Florida: both are doing things "insensitive" to others. But I think this is a faulty analogy. The supporters of the Cordoba Project did not set out to do something offensive; quite the contrary.

The more apt analogy is between terrorists and the opponents of the mosque: both are trying to force innocent people to bear the responsibility for something they had nothing to do with. And the Koran-burners? Their ilk seems to exist on both sides every conflict (e.g., Israel and the Palestinians): those whose bellicose speech inflames the passions of opponents and justifies their violence, guaranteeing continuing conflict.

2. Let me Start by saying this burning of Korean's probably ranks as the stupidest idea ever

But i have to say i also thing the mosque builders had to have some idea that building there mosque at the location they selected would cause pain to some in Anmerica and even if they did not forsee it the proper response would be to move it.

but burning a religious book because it is associated with a small group that did something wrong is just plain _________ ( you fill in the blank)

3. The location is two and a half blocks away, and the WTC site

and the community center will not be visible to each other. If their selected site DID overlook the WTC site, they might have had cause to think twice. It doesn't.

This is a fake controversy ginned up for the midterm elections, nothing more.
