Palin Endorses Masturbation Opponent in DE R-Sen Primary
Edited on Thu Sep-09-10 04:46 PM by jberryhill
It's not often a Delaware race of any sort gets national attention, but you may have recently caught the piece on Rachel Maddow about our own dear Crazy Christine O'Donnell who in the past has advocated against masturbation.

"Long before she became the latest fascination of the political press and the cause-of-the-moment of the Tea Party movement, Christine O'Donnell (R-D.E.) was appearing on news outlets large and small extolling the sins of not just sex but masturbation."

This was obviously too good an opportunity to miss for the Quittah from Wasilla:

"Sarah Palin Endorses Christine O'Donnell For Delaware Senate"

The dynamic here is that Joe Biden's vacated seat is up for grabs in the coming midterm election in November. Delaware generally plays musical chairs with these positions and our longtime sole Congressman and former Governor Mike Castle has broad appeal to Delaware voters as a moderate Republican.

Christine was the GOP sacrificial lamb against Joe Biden in 2008 for the US Senate seat, for which he was simultaneously running while on the national ticket as VP. Biden won handily, and resigned that seat after winning it, upon appointment of a former Biden staffer as a caretaker until this election cycle.

The Democratic candidate is Chris Coons, the former executive of the New Castle County Council. Delaware only has three counties, with New Castle being the most populous by far.

Christine has rabid support among teabaggers in the lower two counties of Delaware, and the real question is whether the country club Republicans in New Castle County will be motivated enough to secure the nomination of Castle in the primary.

In the general head-to-head poll matchups, Castle edges over Coons, but Coons slaughters Crazy Christine. However, the Castle/O'Donnell primary fight has turned uncharacteristically ugly for a Delaware race, and Christine's folks are doing their level best to pretty much ensure that if Castle wins the primary, her folks would be more likely to sit on their hands, since she has painted Castle as "far left" anyway.

The Palin endorsement of O'Donnell is really the icing on the cake for a race that is shaping up as nicely as it can for Chris Coons.

I love it when a plan comes together.

As soon as Christine got her "Palin-Do", this was inevitable:

2. YES! This could put O'Donnell over the top
We need O'Donnell to win that primary to save this seat in the general.

5. I heard this morning that it would take very few votes to get the nomination
Something like 20k to 25k votes would take out Castle.

6. Delaware's total population is just under 900K.

And we have closed primaries. About 40K R's can be optimistically expected to turn out for a midterm primary.
