I just finished watching the 1st part of a documentary called "MeltDown"
It's a Canadian production all about the global financial collapse. It was amazing.

I learned about:

1. The neocon leader of Iceland who started privatizing everything in sight and sold off their national bank to his buddies who made reckless investments.

2. The largest real estate bubble in the world in Dubai where insane deals took place.

3. The first warnings about the legitimacy of American mortgage holdings that began in FRANCE. And about how the French Finance Minister told Treasury Secretary Hank Paulsen, "There's a tsunami coming to the shore and YOU'RE worried about the color of our BATHING SUITS?"

4. The "emergency meeting" that Hank Paulsen held with rival bankers about the fate of Lehman Brothers and how their CEO Dick Fuld was excluded from the meeting (and how he called Paulsen all night but was refused).

5. The absolute predatory nature of EVERY SINGLE banking CEO and their panic at the near global catastrophe One CEO even phoned his wife and told her to go to an ABM and withdraw as much money as she could - he was convinced that ALL banks would be non-functional the next morning.

And this was all BEFORE the collapse.

I recommend this to EVERYONE who's interested in our present financial state - and how it got there. Watch it when it comes out on DVD. Or if you can get CBC, it's on for the next 3 Thursdays at 10:30.

1. I saw the title and immediately thought of paperless electronic voting machines...

...'cause that's likely to happen too.

5. If you ever deal with an intelligent Republican
I know rare, ask them what Countries have tested the Republican theories. The first two on your list were complete failures and followed the Rs script.
