One soldier was practically tortured because he refused to go visit a prostitute with the rest of the unit. Another servicemember's email was hacked and those messages were sent to his commander. Under DADT, it's illegal. He was still forced out. The servicemembers are highly decorated and some of the commanders saw their value to the military. They tried to encourage them to stay, but the isolation and being forced to live is a lie is too much for them. Others drummed officers out as soon as possible.

The judge ruled that DADT violates the fifth and first amendments. The defendants called zero witnesses and their only evidence was the legislative history of the act. That's it.
