Majority Want Tax Cuts for Wealthy to Expire

A new Gallup poll shows the majority of Americans favor letting the Bush era tax cuts to expire for the wealthy. While 37% support keeping the tax cuts for all Americans, 44% want them extended only for those making less than $250,000 and 15% think they should expire for all taxpayers.

1. I noticed right away that the article doesn't indicate
the exact percentage of those wanting the tax cuts for the wealthy to expire. I also notice that they don't share the exact questions. Is that because the questions are loaded so certain results can be guaranteed. I think that every poll that is quoted should contain the questions that were asked. Let us interpret the poll numbers. I think that I can decide if the polling is worthwhile by seeing the questions and the numbers.

I hate polls that feature loaded questions.

3. Have another read.
44% + 15% = 59% want them gone in one way or another.

37% want to keep them.

That leaves only 4% who apparently weren't sure.

8. No it isn't an a or b exclusive question.
there are three options.
a) extended all tax cuts (including rich)
b) extend tax cuts for middle class (excludes rich)
c) extend none of tax cuts (excludes rich & middle class)

a) 37%
b) 44%
c) 15%

Thus those who support allowing tax cuts to expire for rich are b + c (c also wants middle class tax cuts to go too).

Only 37% supports extending the tax cuts for rich. By almost 2:1 majority voters want the tax cuts for rich to expire.

10. But it's valid; take a gander at the baggers, the ones who
wouldn't for a second give up their SS, yet are against the government. They are deluded, so I was happy to see there are some sensible people still out there.

And how about that 30% that never wavered from their support of idiot son?

19. Here here
and isn't it nice to be able to say that out loud without getting berated for being mean? It's becoming more obvious every day, and anyone who denies it is either one of the extremely wealthy, or has been suckered into protecting the interests of the extremely wealthy against their own better interests.

The only war is the class war.

9. Why the F would we all want them to NOT Expire?
why should I care about some class that has been raping our economy for years and then having the audacity to blame it all on the middle class and the poor. People shouldn't be just angry, they should be ballistic by now!!!! I know many who are and no, they are not liberals but conservative-moderate dems as well as some being republican. This government and its lap dogs better wake up.

11. Of course, a majority would probably also love for the government to seize the wealth from the rich
and give it to them.

And count me amoung that majority.

18. Yeah, well, the top 1% has more money to buy off Congress than the rest of us combined.
Good fucking luck. Popular opinion is useless. Congress doesn't serve the so called constituents of their elected district - they only serve their REAL constituents - the fuckers with the most money.
