How to save the economy
I learned this about 3 months ago.

I have rheumatoid arthritis and for some time I have found it difficult to get around; I certainly have had no desire to go shopping in discount stores, malls, etc.

Then about 3 months ago the various medications and physical therapy exercises (plus change of living situation ) made me ready to shop again (not a lot, but certainly more than the zero shopping I had done for the previous 2+ years).

And then I realized---FIND A CURE OR AT LEAST A GOOD TREATMENT FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS. Then all of us older women (the majority of those with RA are women, I understand) would then be out shopping (at least more than we are now). Consider the effect on the sales tax income at the local level alone.

So there you have it--improve the health and save the economy. Not a bad deal.

(I hope everyone here realizes that I need humor to cope with health and financial issues.)

From Bobbie in OK, coping in Tulsa

1. Keep fighting, Bobbie -
I know the feeling. I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis last spring, after months of progressively worse symptoms. Kinda hard to get excited about anything when you have trouble even getting out of the bed in the morning. I am doing well with Humira, and also got a dog to walk with. I have very little pain now, I'm starting to lose weight, and my blood pressure has gone way down.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

2. Obama has saved the economy
We passed health care reform. We passed a recovery act that stopped this country from bleeding 700,000 job a month. We passed important financial regulations.

6. Obama supporter from the beginning
and I continue to support him.

I'm still trying to deal with fact that I graduated from college the year Obama was born!!--and that I spent one night in jail that spring for taking part in a sit-in.

(another one crying in joy and stunned disbelief when he was elected----and not surprised (unfortunately) at the extreme antipathy toward and vicious smearing of our first black president)

4. Cut the military in half
and pour those billions into R&D and help for the desparate among us. The war mongers would still have enough toys to destroy the world many times over.

9. If we would all stop buying chinese crap...
and were more conscious of where the products we buy were produced that might help us a whole lot.
