Sheriff’s officials said today they have identified an 18-year-old Algoma-area man as the person who shot a cow with an arrow, and will refer charges against the teenager to the district attorney’s office.

Sheriff Matt Joski declined to identify the individual, and said investigators are still determining what charges to recommend. But he said the shooting was not an accident.

“This was an intentional act,” Joski said.

The full-size Scottish Highlander was struck in the side by an arrow approximately two weeks ago, sheriff’s officials said. The owner, who lives on Adams Road in the Town of Anhapee, notified deputies of the shooting on Monday.

BTW, the cow survived and is currently recovering.

I don't have cows, but if some ass took a shot at my horses or sheep, I'd not only press criminal charges, I'd sue them for as many damages I could find.

I'd rather just shoot them back, but I'm law abiding and generally pacifistic. Or at least, trying to evolve in that direction.

3. We've had problems in Boulder County lately with people shooting darts at bunnies.

Several rabbits have been seen hopping around with orange darts sticking out of them. Nice people are capturing the poor things and taking them to vets to get the darts removed. How messed up do you have to be to torture animals like this?

in the smallest of ways such as this, of the shittiness of humanity. Often I'm reminded of the goodness too. But daily, I read about shit.

I'm happy the cow survived. I hope it finds the shooter and sticks a horn up his/her ass. But it won't, because it's a cow.
