Dates to mark on your calendars regarding Congress, DADT, DOMA, & Prop8, etc

The U.S. Congress
Congress will be back from recess Monday, September 13th
3:30pm the Senate will debate on then will vote (5:30pm) on confirmation of the nomination of Jane Stranch to be U.S. Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

DADT
U.S. District Judge Virginia Philips has agreed to issue an injunction against DADT.
The plaintiffs, the Log Cabin Republicans, have until September 16th to submit a proposed injunction.
The defendants, the U.S. government, will have until September 23rd to appeal the ruling and object to the injunction.

DOMA
The Department of Justice has until October 11th to decide whether to appeal a July 2010 ruling that said the federal Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional

Prop 8
Court of Appeals - briefings will be in the fall and a hearing set down for December.
