The Associated Press does a Faux Noise Edit On Henry The K
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, I’ve decided to give ya’ll an unhappycamper summary of the article and a link to the OP. To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.

To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

(This space reserved for a legally correct snark dump.) It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

unhappycamper summary of this article: Henry the K was trotted out to show his 'wisdom' and 'statesmanship' on Afghanistan yesterday.

6.24.2010: On Page 3 of A New Way Forward: Rethinking U.S. Stragety in Afghanistan Henry the K was mentioned:

Prospects for success are dim. As former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger recently warned, “Afghanistan has never been pacified by foreign forces.”2 The 2010 spring offensive in Marjah was inconclusive, and a supposedly “decisive” summer offensive in Kandahar has been delayed and the expectations downgraded. U.S. and allied casualties reached an all-time high in July, and several NATO allies have announced plans to withdraw their own forces.

As usual, Henry was partially correct. The last person to conquer Afghanistan was Genghis Khan in 1219.

Kissinger: Engage Afghanistan’s neighbors

GENEVA — Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said Friday that Afghanistan’s neighbors need to be engaged in order to find a long-term solution to the conflict there.

1. Doesn't Interpol have an arrest warrant for Dr. Kissinger?
