President Bush, on 9/11 : " But the day ended on a relatively humorous note..."
Noonan: You were separated on September 11th. What was it like when you saw each other again?

Mrs. Bush: Well, we just hugged. I think there was a certain amount of security in being with each other than being apart.

President Bush: But the day ended on a relatively humorous note. The agents said, "You'll be sleeping downstairs. Washington's still a dangerous place." And I said no, I can't sleep down there, the bed didn't look comfortable. I was really tired, Laura was tired, we like our own bed. We like our own routine. You know, kind of a nester. Like the way things are. I knew I had to deal with the issue the next day and provide strength and comfort to the country, and so I needed rest in order to be mentally prepared. So I told the agent we're going upstairs, and he reluctantly said okay. Laura wears contacts, and she was sound asleep. Barney was there. And the agent comes running up and says, "We're under attack. We need you downstairs," and so there we go. I'm in my running shorts and my T-shirt, and I'm barefooted. Got the dog in one hand, Laura had a cat, I'm holding Laura --

Mrs. Bush: I don't have my contacts in, and I'm in my fuzzy house slippers --

President Bush: And this guy's out of breath, and we're heading straight down to the basement because there's an incoming unidentified airplane, which is coming toward the White House. Then the guy says it's a friendly airplane. And we hustle all the way back upstairs and go to bed.

Mrs. Bush: And we just lay there thinking about the way we must have looked.

Noonan: So the day starts in tragedy and ends in Marx Brothers.

President Bush: That's right -- we got a laugh out of it.

4. Why should he lose sleep for something he ...
CREATED. One and 1/2 week prior to 9/11 he was back from vacation. What was he doing in Florida on 9/11?????????? NO INVESTIGATION ON HIM OR CHENEY NOR Condie Rice...FOR WHAT THEY KNEW...WHEN THEY KNEW IT...AND WHY DIDN'T THEY STOP IT. iF THAT WAS ON OBAMA"S WATCH AND SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAD HAPPENED..." THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WOULD HAVE HUNG HIM PUBLICLY.

3. ''We got a laugh out of it.''
From July 10, 2001, when George W Bush to CIA briefer who warned him specifically about bin Laden attacking the US:

"All right. You've covered your ass."

Then, the little turd headed to Crawford for his August vacation.

There are even photos of that informal meeting.

Bonus random fact: Harriet Miers was there. Memba her? Almost got a USSC appointment?

14. You are correct, elehhhhna. My mistake. Rice got the word in Washington...
...Smirko at the infamous Aug. 6, 2001 meeting in Crawford. From Froomkin's article:

And a month later, as Ron Suskind reported in his book, "The One Percent Doctrine," an unnamed CIA briefer flew to Bush's Texas ranch to call the president's attention personally to the now-famous Aug. 6, 2001, memo titled 'Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.' According to Suskind, Bush heard the briefer out and replied: "All right. You've covered your ass, now."

And a little more on Condescenda.

18. Me neither....
I was just stunned.

Completely stunned.

I remember seeing repeats of the footage, over and over again, and being in total disbelief. Like maybe it was all just a bad dream...or a movie that would eventually have a better ending.

And it only got worse when the focus turned from the numbers of victims to newspeople talking on the streets with family members of the dead and missing. That made it almost unbearable....

:(

Lessee...Shrub was apparently carrying their pet dog, Pickles was apparently carrying their pet cat, and that was supposedly a "Marx Brothers" comedy-like scene??

Maybe Noonan really meant to relate it to a Keystone Kops short, but even that would be wrong.

It seems more like a leftover script or film-reel from an early 60s episode the Dick Van Dyke Show, with "Rob" and Laura both hastily retreating to their home's basement during a tornado warning, that turned out to be only a watch instead. Boring and certainly not amusing, unless Pickles, lacking her contacts, would have tripped over an ottoman in their bedroom, while trying to round up their cat.

I am also dubious of their claim of carrying their pet dog AND cat to safety along with them. Cats are nocturnal animals, prone to wandering at night, with plenty of room to roam, especially in as big a place as the White House...and both of their pets just happened to be in their bedroom at the time?

hmmm...

rec'd to the moon and within days it was EVEYWHERE and even crept into the MSM (Olbermann, IIRC). Coincidence? Don't know, don't care..but these quotes deserve to go viral every 9/11, imo, so thanks!

34. I think I'm starting to understand
So, it seems you can post something 9/11 related as long as it doesn't challenge the official narrative. This post for instance is ok because its highlights Bush's sociopathy, something everyone recognizes regardless of one's views on the truth of 9/11. However, if the intent of posting this exchange was to illustrate Bush's culpability, it would have been flushed right off. Is that the deal? After all this time I'm still trying to get my head around how things work:shrug:
