To the rest of the country: Muslim and Arab Americans are just that, Americans...

Muslim and Arab Americans own businesses, attend public schools, pay taxes, raise families, speak English and even fight and die for America while wearing the nation's military uniform.

The Detroit area has been home the nation's largest Arab and Muslim community for most of my life, and I can't for the life of me understand why so much of the rest of the country feels so afraid.

Fear and ignorance has taken hold... For no fucking good reason at all.

The people who attacked us nine years ago were NOT AMERICANS... NOT ONE OF THEM! Why doesn't anyone remember that fact?

So, to people like Terry Jones, Fox News and the God-damned Republicans: STOP YOUR FEAR MONGERING AGAINST YOUR FELLOW AMERICANS AND THE FAITH THAT THEY'RE FREE TO WORSHIP.

I condemn your words and actions totally.

All other decent Americans should do the same.

We gave the Irish hell. And the Italians. And wow, the Japanese and Chinese. Do I need to mention Blacks?

LOL - I'm married to a wonderful guy who is half-Japanese, one quarter Irish, and one quarter German.

A couple of generations from now a woman will talk about being married to a wonderful guy who is half-Pakistani, one quarter Hmong, and one quarter mish-mash of everything else.
