I just about rolled over laughing. They're having trouble getting the NRA to support Sharron Angle against Reid? Wow, the polls have them close but I think Reid might still be able to pull this off.

3. She's just too crazy
The NRA hasn't endorsed either candidate and probably won't pick a side. They've obviously got their beef with Reid, but Angle is too crazy for them to lend their approval to, so they didn't endorse at all.

4. Admittedly not a big fan of the NRA...
But I've got admiration for them staying out of this one.

7. Well, Reid hasn't exactly voted against the NRA on anything big
He is a Nevada Democrat after all. So there is that...

5. So call and ask them to support Reid against Angle.
Maybe we all should do that.

10. That's what they were going to do, until they aroused the screaming ire of the wingnuts.
It's an open secret that the NRA was planning to endorse Reid, but caught a lot of flak for it from the right wing, particularly elected wingers.

12. So maybe we should all call and pretend to be screaming wingnuts for Reid.
Make their heads spin a little.

6. LOL!
That's hilarious! How nuts does a wingnut have to be to have trouble getting NRA's endorsement?

Thanks for the yucks! I'm with you--I think Reid WILL pull it off. Sharron's now being muzzled and secluded from all but friendly wingnut media, but crazy has it's own compulsion to be expressed, and it usually finds a way. So this promises to get even better for Reid--and more entertaining for us--in the weeks leading up to the election.

9. You're right, BUT WHY is she supposed to be tied with Reid
in the polls? I would think the majority of people in NV would have written er off MONTHS AGO!

15. Reid is a tough campaigner
Edited on Sun Sep-12-10 12:34 AM by NobleCynic
But he's the kind of guy that consistently wins elections by a few hundred votes; by being as conservative/moderate as a Dem can be and still win the primary. As such everyone hates him, and for reason. He is consistently the lesser evil. But given how unhappy that approach leaves both sides of the aisle, in a bad year for Democrats whoever is opposite him has a good chance. If anyone else had won the Republican primary, there is a good chance Reid would be down 10-15 points.

Sadly it isn't even a political act. him straddling the middle/conservative side. Reid is honestly a conservative democrat. And has been for decades. The big mystery is why a long time conservadem was put in charge of the Senate Dems. Bleh.

It also does not help that he has the charisma and looks of a dead fish. The guy is as boring as you can get. He is the type of politician that was not meant for the TV and Internet age. He takes forever to say anything of substance.

16. WOW! You said so many of the things I've been thinking.
WHY in GOD's name is HE the Senate Majority leader? He's a nice guy, but you're right, he takes forever to say what's on his mind! It always cracks me up when someon says he was a boxer! WHAT? I always thought boxers had to have at least SOME agression!

I hope he wins becaue I sure don't want the Pubs to take the SEnate, but can I hope that someone else will be elected majority leader???

13. It's well know that the NRA would love to disown Reid.

The overwhelming majority of their members are Republican and complain loudly on the rare occasion they endorse a Democrat.

I'm sure they would like to endorse Angle, but they already committed.
