Just the thought of sharing this makes me even more happy
For the last 20 years I've been making do with a metal cutting band saw that was made in Taiwan, that when I bought it, what I paid for it new, should have bought me an American made saw but that wasn't the case. I recently bought this old American manufactured metal cutting band saw at a garage sale that looked like it had been just setting there in one of the out buildings of the man who I bought it from all these last 20 years. I paid him 40 bucks for it, birdshit, rust and all and bring it home, happy as a lark because I can see under all that grime and grit what I have. I proceed to take it apart and clean it up and man o man what a saw I have now. This saw will cut straight and true where the one I've been using kinda sorta did, you know good enough to get me by but not really like what I'd like.

We have to figure out a way to make the men who controls it all that money isn't the all that they think it is.

1. I had to replace a washing machine. My wife and I are
63, so I asked the salesman if this would be the last washing machine I would ever buy. "No," he said sheepishly. "People have to replace a washing machine every five years."

So I asked him which brand was the best. He said it didn't matter anymore. "They are all made in the same building in China."

He wasn't able to even be enthusiastic for the product.

Our company is a dumping ground for half-assed products that make money. None of these corporations are making products, they are all bankers selling trinkets to get our money. In the end the "free market" ends up being a pyramid game. Its just that the base is so wide that its not as observable.

2. I remember not too long ago that would have been the last washing machine you would have had to buy
You know it really hasn't been that long ago either. It really started in earnest shortly after the inauguration of saint ronnie of which I still think that dirty politics is what got that man elected in the first place.

3. There are a few appliances still made in the USA
Here is one example:
All Speed Queen brand laundry equipment is manufactured in Ripon, Wisconsin by Alliance Laundry Systems
http://www.speedqueen.com/

This is a good site:

4. Ever read "Brave New World?"
Planned obsolescence is part of the system. "Better ended than mended."
