Distressed pig rescued from hot car in south Texas

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — This little piggy just wanted out of the hot car.

South Texas authorities rescued a distressed pot-bellied pig outside the Cameron County Courthouse after finding the pet owner, who unlocked the car.

The Brownsville Herald posted on online video showing authorities trying to unlock the car before the woman arrived. Animal control officers took the pig and say they cited the woman for animal cruelty.

The witness who alerted authorities said he heard "what I thought was whistling" and noticed the pig looking at him through one of the car windows.

A meteorologist says the temperature was in the 90s when the incident ended shortly before noon.

“I was walking to my car when I heard what I thought was whistling and figured somebody I know was trying to get my attention.” bail bondsman Michael Garza told the Brownsville Herald. “I look and there it was, looking at me through the window. I never thought I would find a pig trapped in a car.”

The pig appeared to be sweating, well, like a pig, and was dehydrated, the Herald reported.

Authorities worked for about an hour to free the pig before the porker's owner, Ann Beatriz Rodriguez, 19, was paged and returned from conducting legal business in the courthouse.

Animal control officers took custody of the pig, put it in an air-conditioned truck and gave it fluids. Rodriguez was issued a citation for animal cruelty, the Herald reported.

3. What an idiot! Pigs don't sweat!!
I had pot bellied-pigs, both gone now from old age, and they don't sweat! That's why they need mud puddles.

I miss my girls.

RIP Roseanne Boar and Frankie Sow-Natra.

13. That is one very cute little pig
Poor thing to have landed in the hands of such a clueless person. I hope the authorities find him a good forever home or only release him back to Ms. Rodriguez after she has completed some form of training on how to take care of animals.
