The Phone Call...
About an hour prior to logging onto the internet, the telephone rang.
I answered it...

"Hello?"

"Hi, this is Cathy from the county republican committee reminding you to vote the upcoming republican primary..."

"I am not a republican and I'll never be or ever vote republican. They are the party of no, they represent obstruction, regression and repression. They will never have any progressive views. After 8 years of george w. bush, they have set this nation back more than 100 years to the times of the robber barons and the gilded age..."

At that point, I heard her hang up the phone and quite possibly after most of my "speech" to her and whatever homeland security people were listening in on.

I don't think they'll be calling me anytime soon.

1. Good for you!
I'm wondering why Homeland Security would be listening in?

Recommended.

4. You might want to check with your Registrar of Voters....
to make sure your affiliation didn't get mysteriously "switched" to Republican (unless you're registered as an independent and your state allows independents to vote in dem/rep primaries).

Otherwise, if you're registered as a Dem. why would the Repub. party be calling your house? Did they address you by name?

7. That is a good idea.
I'm not registered with any party and I know my state does not allow independents to vote in party primaries.

I don't why they called me and they did not address me by me.

9. Yea, Homeland Security not so much. Possibly the NSA however...
Can Read Here

and here...

They have equipment in place (at AT&T for one) but probably on most switched networks, and shows such as 60 minutes have reported on and insinuated active active warrantless wiretapping of calls and most Internet traffic and email, using pattern-matching and voice-recognition software. Who they are doing, where, why and how much is covered under state secrets. But the capability is there to analyze much of the worlds communication...

...Wiretapping under Barack Obama
The New York Times reported in 2009 that the NSA is intercepting communications of American citizens including a Congressman, although the Justice Department believed that the NSA had corrected its errors.<33> United States Attorney General Eric Holder resumed the wiretapping according to his understanding of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 Amendments Act of 2008 which Congress passed in July 2008 but without explaining what had occurred.<34>

Transaction data mining
NSA is reported to use its computing capability to analyze "transactional" data that it regularly acquires from other government agencies, which gather it under their own jurisdictional authorities. As part of this effort, NSA now monitors huge volumes of records of domestic emails and Internet searches as well as bank transfers, credit-card transactions and travel and telephone records, according to current and former intelligence officials interviewed by the Wall Street Journal.<35>
...

No tin hat, and no reason to be overly paranoid. As long as you don't mention bombs, terrorism, drugs, gathering for criminal activity, federal buildings, the President, the Congress, military bases, bridges, routes of strategically important rail or other traffic, encryption, anarchy directed against the federal government, etc, it should never attract any attention, especially if your intentions are clear and benign. And you put a smiley after it ;)

On the other hand, I do wonder if they are making a catalog when messages talk about "second amendment solutions"?

12. I got a call from the Republicans and I said, "Man, did you call the wrong house!"
I told the lady on the phone that there was no way in hell that any voter in our house would ever vote for a Republican.
