When in the past has there ever been this much talk about "taking
the country back" and "restoration" by force? I'm 64 and I can't remember when it was this bad. Am is looking at the past through rose colored glasses? Can people name another time since the Civil War that the national discourse has been this threatening and this pervaisive?

1. I beat you on age and I agree, I've never seen anything like it.
My parents were strict Republicans, but they would be ashamed of what this party has turned out to be. In the first place, they would be abhorred at their focus on sex...both on the campaign trail and in the motel rooms. They are either criticizing it or chasing it...often on the same day.

Secondly, they would be shocked at the in-your-face lies. The Repugs are nowhere near the party they were in their time.

On the other hand, my aunt would be watching the whole thing unfold before her very eyes, as she always did say the Republican Party was the reason this country was becoming so crooked and that their actions were shameful...that was in the 70s. It took a while, but she has been vindicated.

4. The end of Jim Crow
The last 20 years or so of Jim Crow were pretty violent. Bombings, assassinations, and murders were all committed in that time frame.

5. And we should ALWAYS ask them . . . "Take it back from WHO, specifically??"
The answers they give you will truly reveal . . . "the content of their character" . . .

6. AND there is absolutely no basis for that statement
Take their country back. The only thing they want to take back is give the presidency to a republican. Give the congress to republicans. Every time the public legally elects a Democrat they start the same old crap. Not this bad. And only because Obama is black. But get this..they show a picture of Obama peeing on the Constitution. What in the devil has he or the Democrats done to the Constitution. The only thing is fox is constantly pushing the lie. And the people who are jumping up and down only prove they are too stupid to understand anything on their own. I just don't believe that the people in this country can be so darn dumb as to stare dumb founded at fox and believe everything they say. Sorta reminds me of the comedies about people standing up in the old silent movies and wanting to fight the villain to save the pretty girl.

And while we talk about the Constitution...what did their wonderful cowboy president say about the Constitution the tea bags and republicans want you to think they revere....

THE CONSTITUTION ISN'T ANYTHING BUT A GOD DAMN PIECE OF PAPER. What could be more hurtful than a statement like that. But of course the press never really told people that it came thru the net.

The tea bags and republicans who keep pushing this second amendment crap must remember just two things. The Democrats and liberals in this country outnumber them 3 to 1 and we own GUNS ALSO.

7. We've never had a black President, before.
It is all about the color of Obama's skin.
