Chris Dudley (Republican) Ads on DU (Oregon Governor's Race)
Edited on Mon Sep-13-10 11:51 AM by L. Coyote
WTF?? I clicked the ad just to send a few pennies to DU and make Dudley pay a few cents to Google too, but

HEY, why are Republican ads running on DU? Come on Skinner, get rid of this annoyance please.

Also, Dudley is about to go down in flames for his avoidance of Oregon taxes.

Chris Dudley continued using Portland home after tax move to Washington
http://www.oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2010/09/chris_dudley_continued_using_p.html

Republican candidate for governor Chris Dudley continued to use his Portland home during the years he claimed Camas, Wash., as his residence to avoid paying thousands of dollars in Oregon taxes.

Interviews with people in Dudley's former neighborhood and public records show that Dudley may not have stopped using his Portland home to the extent needed to claim he was no longer an Oregon resident for tax purposes.

1. I think this has been covered before (i.e., you can't selectively get rid of these ads).

Besides, if he's spending his ad budget here, it only benefits DU (and provides him with ZERO benefit).

2. You can ban domains in Google ads.

Good point, let him waste a few pennies here.

But, the ad seeks donations and does not say he is a Republican!!!

3. Oh, I hope you're right about Dudley going down in flames!
I'm inclined to think the residency issue is a red herring designed to once again confuse and divide the electorate. The fact that he won't debate his opponent and therefore be forced to speak to the real issues Oregon's facing is of greater concern. I attended a gathering for Gov. Kitzhaber last week (John continues to impress me), where he noted that Dudley will do one debate, two weeks before the ballots go out, but only on the condition that each of them presents a list of questions to ask the other, with no moderator or interaction with those in attendance. Hardly meets the standards for a debate, of course, but I guess John will take what he can get. John's a class act and the man has a plan, unlike anything I've seen coming from the Dudley camp, but I am concerned by the big money backing Dudley. Let's hope he doesn't turn out to be the "best governor money can buy", especially since I think he would be the worst possible thing for Oregon.

As for the DU ads--as others have pointed out, not sure Skinner can do much about those, given the way things work. When I see Dudley's TV "commercials" I quickly turn away. Let us hope reason prevails and he goes down in flames, but if god forbid he doesn't, let's hope a Democratically controlled legislature can keep him in check.

5. I worked for a state agency when he was governor.
Also when he was Senate President. Nice to have such a competent leader to keep Oregon on track! Here's hoping for a rerun!
