2. As ruinous as Republican policies have been
It's mickle surprising that they're still in power in Texas. I'm definitely hopeful that White can win the governorship, but it's up to Texans, and they seem self-destructively enamored of Republicans there.

7. A little support (moral &/or financial) would be nice
but that is apparently asking for too much.

6. Perry cheats... as does the GOP in Texas.... no way they let White win...

They already got most of the voting machines in White's stronghold (Houston) destroyed by arson.

Perry will do everything he can to make sure that White's supporters can't vote... or don't have their votes counted.

He's the worst of the worst.

Never fear, we dumb asses in Texas know how to vote on paper. :eyes:

10. We *DO* have paper ballots, you know
as well as indoor plumbing and paved roads. :eyes:

We also have this new-fangled idea-r called "Early Voting," which lasts for 2 weeks, during which time you can vote at any place that has a polling station in your county---the mall, the hospital, the grocery store....

12. My point is that Perry and the GOP machine will MANIPULATE results on the electronic machines

...they run Texas.

14. The machines are only "toast" in Houston.... in the rest of the state, Perry will manipulate

...and in Houston, the destruction of the machines means long lines and trouble getting the turnout that White WOULD HAVE gotten before the arson.

There's no way there will be as high a voting% in Houston now as there would've been before the machines were destroyed.

The lines will cause many people to give up and go home without voting. It happened in Missouri in 2004.

15. What part of "we have Early Voting for 2 weeks" did you not understand?
The vast majority of Texas voters now vote during Early Voting. Polling stations are placed in various points around the county where most people are likely to be at least once or twice a week, such as libraries, grocery stores, hospitals (you would not believe the foot traffic hospitals get, at least in my county), county offices, malls, the courthouse. You have 2 weeks to vote, & polling stations are open as early as 7 a.m. & some close at 9 p.m.

So spare us your hand-wringing over long lines & trouble getting the turnout for White, we know you don't really mean it.

16. I think you might be in for a surprise
Texans, in general, are sick of governor Goodhair. Hell, they were sick of him last election. Unfortunately that asshole Dick Friedman and Scott McClellan's mom added enough spoilage to the mix to allow Chicken Rick to win the office with a lousy 39% of the vote. Perry can finagle things but, IMHO, not enough to overcome the tide of voters from both parties that want him gone. Granted, this year's primaries were slack when it came to Dem voters but now, I believe, we know we have a shot at trouncing that cosmic cowboy and we're going to see a pretty impressive turnout in November.
