A 16-year-old boy has been accused of stabbing a pizza delivery man to death Friday night in a vacant apartment just north of Omaha.

According to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation, Bryton Gibbs is accused of wielding the knife used to stab 33-year-old Christopher P. Taylor. The stabbing occurred about 11 p.m. Friday at 6608 N. 89th Court � near Sorensen Parkway and Ida Street.

Taylor had less than $50 on him, police have said. Authorities will charge Gibbs as an adult.

Taylor, whose driver's license listed him as 5-foot-2 and 105 pounds, apparently was trying to get away when he was killed, Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Roger Goeser said Monday. Taylor had two stab wounds in his back, Goeser said.

A quick succession of arrests followed the homicide. Witnesses and physical evidence led authorities to arrest Gibbs, 18-year-old Larry Fountain and 19-year-old Dontavis McClain.

Officials said they think the three Omahans lured Taylor, a Pizza Hut delivery driver, to the vacant apartment.

"I think robbery was the initial motive," said Marty Bilek, chief deputy of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. "It might've been one of those things where maybe the robbery wasn't thrilling enough."

Robberies of Omaha pizza delivery drivers in 2010
Aug. 30: A delivery driver for Papa John's said he was trying to deliver pizzas to 5515 S. 31st St. about 9:50 p.m. when he was robbed. The driver said he got out of his car in front of that address and saw five males sitting on the curb. He asked them who was paying for the pizza and was directed to the front door. He said he then was shocked with a stun gun and hit in the head. The driver said the males grabbed the pizzas and ran off.

Aug. 28: A Pizza Hut delivery driver said he went to 4516 N. 39th St. to deliver pizza about 11:15 p.m. He said an armed man took three pizzas, cash and a cell phone.

July 24: A delivery driver for Domino's Pizza said he was robbed of pizza and money when he tried to deliver pizzas to 1320 S. 29th St. about 11:15 p.m. He said two males, one of whom was holding a gun, robbed him and then fled on foot.

July 6: A Pizza Hut delivery driver told officers she was confronted by a man as she was delivering in front of 3415 Parker St. about 10:55 p.m. She said the man told her, "This is what you think it is." She said after she handed the man her cash, the man grabbed the chicken wings she was delivering and walked away.

June 19: A Pizza Hut delivery driver told officers he was robbed before 9:30 p.m. while trying to deliver a pizza to 3960 N. 104th Plaza No. 106 in the Fox Valley Apartments. He said he was approached outside the doorway by three people � one had gun and demanded the pizza and property. The robbers took his money and ran off.

May 28: A Pizza Hut delivery man reported that a man robbed him of the order he was delivering to 3712 N. 108th Plaza about 10:15 p.m.
