“America’s Toughest Sheriff” is coming to Colorado this month for a fund-raiser for gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo.

Tancredo frequently invokes the name of the Sheriff Joe Arpaio when he talks about illegal immigration problems. The sheriff of Maricopa County in Phoenix has a reputation for his hard-line approach against illegal immigration, resulting in a U.S. Department of Justice investigation.

Arpaio and Tancredo have something in common besides an obsession with illegal immigration. Arpaio is being discussed as a presidential contender in 2012. Tancredo ran for president in 2008, but dropped out after getting limited support.

Tancredo, a former Republican congressman, is running for governor on the American Constitution Party ticket.
