5. Oh but are we putting Christian churches at our ground zeros?
Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 02:35 AM by dkf
I for one would say that is a bad idea.

6. 'We' are the terrorists creating those ground zeros.
It is not the creators of our Ground Zero who is building the Mosque in NYC.

11. If they had a Constitution like ours I would think they
would either have to do so, or realize their Constitution was worthless.

15. And when Saddam Hussein was president of Iraq
Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 09:15 PM by sabrina 1
Christians were safe in that country, so were women. Now that we brought 'democracy' to them, as you point out, they have re-empowered the fundies that were kept in check until our arrival.

That makes your question irrelevant. If the NYC Mosque was being built by the perpetrators of 9/11 you might have a point. It isn't and any attempt to tie these people to terrorists is a Fox News piece of lying propaganda.

Either we have a Constitution we are willing to live by or we don't.

9. Could you give me a time frame for how long you're going to be commenting on this non issue?
I'm very judicious about how many people I put on ignore. And you don't qualify. But I'm considering a new concept - temporary ignore. So, if you could give me a time frame in which you suspect this will be the main issue you're going to be commenting on, it would be very helpful to me.

14. I'm trying to stay out of this but the posts are driving me batty.
And my recent posts have mostly been on the economy, healthcare, education, Etc.

The lack of sensitivity to Bereavement is horrendous to me. I post because I'm appalled. And others are appalled that I'm not a supporter of everything in the constitution. And yes I'm not. I won't go out to protect the 2nd amendment either. Frankly I'd prefer what France has...a secular state.

16. We should not build a memorial to extremist terrorists of any ilk anywhere
If that's your point of view, then you have my support. They were extremists and they were terrorists. A Muslim community center built anywhere has no bearing on that. What's driving me batty about your posts is you seem to be equating the two. Religion and terrorism, while often linked, are not the same. Even if this weren't a stupid Fox "News" ginned up bullshit nothing story, it would still be okay and in fact, very American, to support such a community center and until Fox got their Rottweiler jaws into it, no one was being hurt.

Be angry at Fox and every other stupid news outlet that doesn't have enough common sense to see this as the non-story that it is. Of any of the survivors are being hurt, that is why. They are being used to forward an agenda of racism. The survivors are being used. And the people who are using them to stir up racism don't give a flying fuck about their feelings.

No one ever deserves to be a victim of a terrorist attack and there have been so, so many. So many Muslims, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Atheists and Pagans have been murdered by extremists. I'm really unsure if any fundamentalist Pagans have ever been terrorists but a quite a few people from each of the other religions I mentioned have been. My heart bleeds for each of the people hurt. But if this Muslim community center is forced to move, the terrorists have won a major victory. And that, more than anything, I cannot stomach.

17. I went and looked at some of your other posts
and while I vehemently disagree with you on this specific issue, I have very rigid standards for those who end up on my ignore list and you just don't make the cut. ;-)

So, I guess when I see you post on this issue I'll just keep my mouth shut.

(if it wasn't clear from above, I meant that the only people who end up on my ignore list are those who don't seem to have anything useful to say to me, ever. You do)
