Saw a comment on MSNBC about education.

A guy mentioned some items that they can show improves school performance.

He mentioned a few things, best teachers, and testing.

He then said he could show that system of testing worked to improve schools.

Based on what, testing!!!



If you said the best school was one with 'some criteria' then test for that criteria, of coarse scores on that criteria would go up. Teachers would teach to that criteria, especially if they did not have tenure or unions.

There is a terrible problem with that, whoever sets that criteria controls the entire education topics of everyone in those schools. It is centralization, and does not have to be for best effects for society. Could be for best effects of who sets the criteria.

If teachers have tenure and union protection, you might get a few that are not the best, but you would also have a wide variety of thoughts and ideas in learning. And you would also get some that are really good at some areas of education that might not be part of some 'groups' criteria of what is most important.

I do believe they care about children, but as the guy interviewed says, people see through their own lens, so much so, he did not even realize that saying, "by testing, it can be proven that testing works", is totally illogical unless you see through the ideas tested on.
