they found the vote count really wasn't that close at all. Long before one ballot was ever cast or counted, Jeb Bush* and Cruella de Harris had illegally removed TENS OF THOUSANDS of legal voters from the Florida voting roles. We now know that persons removed from the roles were disproportionately from Democratic-leaning precincts. We also know that further voter cherry-picking occurred against non-Cuban descent Latinos, who tended to vote Democratic, as opposed to the Cuban Latino population that tended to vote republican and high favorable Bush* name recognition. And this was just one tactic OF MANY designed to marginalize Democratic voters. Just one. There were also numerous incidents of voter suppression, including voter caging, intimidation and outright threats. There was an entire arsenal of dirty tricks used long before any votes were ever cast.

My point? The stealing of Florida in Selection 2000 was a carefully engineered process taking several years to bring to fruition. And part of that fruition was to give the impression that the vote count was much closer than it actually was, allowing the criminal bastards to feign an air of legitimacy--"well the vote was actually really close." And with little to no potent challenges to the actual legitimacy of the electoral infrastructure and process, it was only a hope, skip and a jump to the second portion of Selection 2000, which was actually stealing the election. And when all the dirty tricks did not bring home desired result, they had to play the final trump card--or all five of them, as it were: A brutally-partisan SCOTUS, who in an illegal ruling so fucking laughable even they said it could not be used future precedent, stopped the legitimate vote count and handed the pResidency to George W. Bush*.

Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one out there like this. My abusive backwoods educated stepfather (republican voting retired military asshole) gave this to me and my ignorant mother didn't help. I finally had to physically fight him back @ 16 and got kicked out of the house.

These type of people are golden to the GOP more importantly because they perpetuate ignorance and disinformation. My current father in law who seems to be a nice man and is Mormon is a complete ego maniac. He seriously thinks people should fall in line when he open his hole and imparts his foolish wisdom. He won't vote anything else but the republican ticket. We had a falling out and I don't talk to him at all anymore and I feel so much better.

and, they're nice people-but just discussing religion and business with my boss who is mormon--the Mormon church very much is a corporatized organization. Just like Beck, my boss would get excited showing me these charts on corporate structure and how we don't need no stinking social safety net. Of course the church offers one, but you have to be mormon or attend church.

Now my cousins great, great grandfather was actually murdered by the mormons. You did not question church doctrine, and I remember one article, I believe in the Salt city weekly-had history of salt lake city--when the town was expanding, they had uncovered so many dead bodies, it was embarrassing. You did not question church doctrine or Brigham Young.

The further away from the main church, the more freedom and probably less political influence there is being a mormon. But, in Utah, as well as Nevada and Arizona,Idaho, the church has a very big say in your life. Like my boss told me his bishop told him that his wife shouldn't work and that he should tell her to quit working. My husband's cousin was brought in to the bishop in his ward at twelve years old and was told that he was not tithing enough (he mowed lawns). Or the incident in Utah, where a teenager was raped by a young man who was going on mission--the church influenced her to not press charges because it would ruin his life. And, there is a lot that the church attempts to suppress or handle that would otherwise be a criminal matter It also depends on who you are and what family your from. My supervisor once worked at one of the mormon clothing manufacturing businesses, he was let go because they told him he was not "worthy" enough.

Utah is a repug stronghold--there's a joke there about elections-who is going to be the democrat? The one with the shortest straw is the democrat. The only saving grace is that SLC has some more progressive people, that's how they elected a progressive mayor-but the outlying areas are very strong mormon and repug.

I know mr Beck is member of the church too, and I would say, quit public here, he is a shame for the church, and should be told to be quit, and get medical help... I know the church have a "social safty net" of sorts, but in Norway we have a decent public welfare system, so I am not sure that consept is used here, as we alleready have a public healtcare, who can help you in most of your problems.. Was to the doctors this evening in fact, for a little illness I have. bloodwork and recept, NKR 275,- or like 46,94 US dollar.. No hidden fees, no bill in the post... And the recept I got, wil maybe cost me something like NKR 300,- or like 51,02 US dollar Mostly becouse it is half paid for by the county, and the public healt care system... For some reason, i think I wil stick with my public founded healt care, rather than the Church welfare, if I had the shoice. And if americans was given a truthfull fact about how public founded healtcare really work, mr Moore was afraid of telling what Norway had of welfare system in Sico. Mostly becouse he was afraid to be accused of LYING to the american public... Then maybe americans could understand, that a public founded welfare system can work in US too... I know a little about the church history in Utah, it is an ugly one, sometimes even a really shamefull one, who also have been pointed out by my bishhop one time it was up, as rather bad and sad... Not the churchs best times I'm afraid off...

I know about that the church is a big time of your life, if you are really conected to it. Have been some active in the church, but I have a little problem, I don't like been in a large crowd... Specailly in a social setting, i really dispaise the fact that I have to mingle with people I do not know a bit about, and who might not even want to talk to me.. I do not know where to keep my hands, and what to do, so often I try to hide in a corner, and is loking at people rather than mingle with them, a habit I have had since I was a little child. Im more comfortable with a small groups of friends, who I know, and who know Me.

I think the bishop should have been using some decent common sence, than to tell that he dosen't tith enough and was a bad person, for a 12 year young kid, that could be the difference between be a fightfull for the rest of his life, or maybe leave the church all togheter... And a 12 year boy, who is moving a lawnmover, can't get that a lot of money either.. He could stop mowing lawns, and play with his friends, rather than doing this, as I guess the summer in Utah can be hot and dry... This Bishop was just not using his brain properly, and should have been told that to.

Its wrong to rape, and then let go, becouse he should go to a mission.. One of the thing I understood of that, is that you have to have a "Moral compass" to do missionary work. And the last couple of years, it have been a lot stricter to be a missionary than it was before.. Even tho the news is little earatic when it came to light, many who have been less than stellar in their actions before the mission, have been told to reppent, and to wait for it, longer down the road... And If I was a Bishop, and it had come to my table that a young man had raped a young woman/girl, I would have handed it over to the police, regardness of what some influencal members have to say about it. Rape is Wrong, period. And it should be a long way from the man who was doing it, to came back to the fold he had to prove beyound doubt, that he reppent, not just to the church, but also by taking his responssiblity and go to the police and the cort system, to get the punishment according to the LAW..

My life, have discoverd one thing, that NO ONE is "not worthy" enough. regardness of what you do, what you belive in, and not belive in, you as an human is worth excactly the same..A person can be decent as few, regardness if they go to church regulary, or is little looser in his conection to the church. It is NOT by your attention into Church you should be make a standard for, but by your actions, inside and outside of the church! In Norway, a dissmissing like this would have ended up in the corts, with the employer on the loosing end, and a nice little money for the working man...

Then Salt Lake City are little more progresive than the countryside, and that is maybe somewhat of a hope?.. And not every member of the LDS are like some you might have encountred in Utah, or elsewhere.. It exist many hidden liberals out there too;)

I've seen the PBS special about Mormons and actually sat down with missionaries and talked. Only because of a girl, but then they started slamming my religion and I'm thinking WTF!!?? Even though I don't practice I remember thinking "Who in the F do you think you are?".

My father in law thinks everyone should just fall in line when he has his "wisdom" to spread. The guys an ego maniac and I actually feel that I need to protect my little girl from his ignorance. It's a pain in the ass!

Now I do know there are people like you who actually wonder, and are curious, and get enlightened everyday and that's great, I wish everyone were like that, then we might not be in the mess we're in.

But what I really wanted to say was, I'm so sorry for shooting my mouth off and not being sensitive to the people that I know do think otherwise in the church. That's why I married my wife. I know I'm the lucky one in this relationship and have felt luckier and more fortunate as our time passes. She's the perfect mother to my little girl who'm I'd die without.

the one thing I do know is that everything is much different outside of the US. I was born and raised the first 5 years of my life in the Philippines and eventually moved to the states. Even in the Philippines the poor would always take care of each other, which was my experience. I had to live with my relatives cause I couldn't live at home as my newly minted stepfather might abuse me.

I lived here most of my life until I decided to become a US citizen and was really proud when that happened. Now, not so much with the proud anymore and more of the disbelief and despair.

I'm sorry to lump you in with all the LDS but here they are most certainly goose stepping to their leaders no matter what. They disregard facts available to them and simple critical thinking processes that would enlighten them. They are all of one mind and will follow their Nazi leaders to the end.

In another part of the world they might be different but if they all follow the same book, then I'm afraid they are more the same than different. Which is why I'm guessing you've been ex communicated. I know that is a horrible thing to go through and I'm sorry that's happened to you and I can't believe that is something God or Jesus (name your religious point man) would condone.

I believe that god loves us all, it's that simple. He didn't intend for us to be in some ridicules hierarchy system where some are "more special" than others. We are all his children and we should all be treated "special" not the just the select few. The hierarchy system is man's abomination on religion.

Many things is differnt outside US, and I guess, most of it have been more different the last 30 or so year, when US more or less turned right-right, and most of the rest of the world, turned middle of the road...Specailly after the cold war, where many american Reagan won, more or less singlehandled, by forcing the hand of Gorbatsjev something long from the truth. In fact Reagan, and Gorbatsjev feared the nuclear war enough, to get togheter, even as "enemies", and discovered that they might have something in common... Sting even made a song about the meeting of the two in 1986 in Reykjavik in Icland (I know the song, but haven't found it yet, and that sucks!, becouse it is a great song, even tho it had a scary video to it, but that was maybe the point?)

I can understand why you wanted to be a US citizen, in the past, to be member of US, was something greeat, something the lucky one, who had worked hard for it, and not to say, often sacrified a lot to came to. US was a world apart from the "old world" where a man with the will could rise from ashes, and be his own man, and maybe even a powerfull man in a generation, or two. And a lot of this histories, about relavtives who was making it big over there, also was given others the urge to leave the old world, for the new one. It was a country of hope, and prosperity, a free country, where you could belive what you want, and be what you want, regardness of old traditions, who was deep as old trees home... And I also understand your despair, as the country you wanted to be a part of, and love is turning to something totaly else, something that either want US to be, me on the outside, you on the inside;)

I am not ex-comunicated yet at least, but the few i know, know about what I belive in, but then, many members of LDS is posible far more "liberal" here in Norway, than in the US.. Mostly becouse the whole country is far more "liberal" than US is.. I belive that if a right-wing american was forced to live here, and also forced to be a member of the comunity, he would be either scared to hell, or maybe far more moderate when he was leaving Norway;).. I try my best to respect everyone I meet, regardness of their skin tone, or the origin of what they came from.. I might fail missrably time to time, some peopole I am more comfortable with than others, but I try my best, to be decent, to everyone I meet... One of my friends, is a ex member of the church, and we have some disagreement with the idea that the church is truth - but he still call me, and I him, and we have a conection there, who is larger than our disbelive or belif of the Church... And he is allways calling me "his favorite mormon" in a somewhat kind way, so I guess we are friends still;) I absolutely that everyone is childrens of God, and we, as cousins of sorts, should at least TRY to be good to eatch other... I wil ALLWAYS vote my consciences, regarness of what somewhat else claim, in Norway we have "secret ballots", and therefore I can vote what I want, and is sure that my vote also wil be counted. Mostly becouse the voting law in Norway is rather strict, and posible wil be stricter as flaws is discovered and fixed... It is not perfect, but wel better than in many other country I guess..
