Yesterday, we said that a combination of tea party upsets, and strong progressives, in swing districts can save the Democratic majorities in Congress. Last night’s election results, and your tireless efforts, are starting to make that a reality.
Not only did Christine O’Donnell likely hand Democrats a Senate seat in Delaware, and not only did more than 1,000 members of the Daily Kos community contribute to Alan Grayson, but in NH-02, future progressive champion Ann McLane Kuster defeated LieberDem Katrina Swett to win the Democratic nomination in a key open seat.
Kuster’s win keeps this district on the map for Democrats, and is another sign voters want Dems who stand up to Republicans. Further, the poor performance of Republican nominee Charlie Bass in the primary portends a divided, even unenthusiastic, Republican base in the general election.
This is really happening. The tea party and progressives are combining for a perfect storm that keeps improving Democratic chances. Keep building that momentum: contribute to Ann McLane Kuster on Orange to Blue now!
