I think that is what the Tea Baggers are. They don't align themselves all that much with the Republican Party and have a "Throw the Bums Out" mentality. I haven't seen that mindset played out here. There are a few DINOs that many here, myself included, would like to see Primaried and beaten. I think they cause the Party more harm than good, but on the whole I am satisfied with our Democratic Majority. I know they are moving in the right direction, just not fast enough for me, but I certainly don't want to throw them out for their foot dragging..I want to give them more ammo, not less, as the Tea Baggers seem to be doing to the GOP.. I just can not see the comparrison that the MSM is trying to create..Democrats are going to do just fine in November and it is going to shock more than just the Republicans who expect a Great Victory..

3. So concerned about the country...
...that they'll select a candidate who can't win, and hand the election to the opposition.

Doesn't make much sense. "I love my country so much, I'm going to let the evil people run it."

he wants us to bitch at him and others running govt when they drop the ball. Nothing wrong with that. It's necessary.

But voting for the enemy is just Stockholm-Syndromish.

10. Nothing wrong with putting pressure on the president.
Plenty wrong with handing a Senate seat to the opposition. Conservative voters in Delaware blew it. But at least nobody can accuse them of suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. That should make their defeat in November hurt a little less.

13. McConnell just announced that they support her...
and want to see her in the US Senate. I think most Repubs will unite behind her. She's really not that different from most of them. I would be careful about declaring defeat just yet.

14. Of course McConnell will support her. And of course they want her in the US Senate.
But she is almost certain to lose.

15. I would think that she will increase Repub turnout...
She is the new darling of the Tea Party. I wish I was as certain as you.

2. Embracing RW policy is the wrong direction.
You can try to characterize me however you want - I don't care. It's not the 'speed', it's the direction that I'm unhappy with.

4. Different directions, different strategies
You have to realize that the left is seeing a country being dragged to the right. So our strategy is to pull hard to the left. Many may argue about whether we have stopped the rightward movement or not. We may argue about how hard to pull. But we all agree that there is plenty-o-space on the left to pull towards.

The GOP on the other hand is pushing to the rigth. They arguing about whether they are pushing too hard. They argue about whether everyone on the otherside is actually pulling or not. The argue about whether everyone on THEIR side is pushing. Their primaries are about whether some are pushing and some are applying the brakes.

That is a real, big, difference.

7. A very interesting point...

The TP'ers are much like the left-wing of our own Party, in my opinion. They got crapped on by the last Administration and they simply could not take it any longer. This was not the Republican Party they had supported and loved their entire lives. George W Bush was the final straw for them. They expected much more from their Party than did the moderate Republicans.

What would the Democratic Party have to do to make their left supporters as angry as the TP'ers? If that happened, then yes, they would act just like the Tea Partiers. Much is based on the expectations of different groups. The base usually is more passionate and expects more from their Party than do the moderates in the middle. At the present time, the base of the Democratic Party is more disappointed than angry, unlike the TP'ers, and will continue to support the Party in the next election. The leaders would have to do something dreadful to lose their support.

17. Your equating the teabaggers and the Democratic left is absolutely wrong
and unsupportable.

18. Totally different but the other side of the coin...
If President Obama screwed up the country to the same degree that Bush did, I am not convinced the left would stay with him? That is all I am trying to say.

The progressive base thinks more in the small "d" democratic way than others in the Party that think more in the large "D" Democratic way.

We have not taken a loyalty oath to the Democratic Party. Our votes cannot be taken for granted. Can yours?

19. OK, I see what you are saying. And no, my vote cannot be taken for granted -
although it always has been. One day the so-called centrists are going to ask "where are you going to go?", and I'll show them where.

The only reason we are not in serious trouble this election is because the Repubs are tearing themselves apart. If they weren't doing that, the Dems' abandonment of the "Democratic wing of the Democratic Party" would make itself very painfully felt.

As it is, I fully expect a Dem majority in both houses to give the administration a chance to redeem itself. Kicking Rahm to the curb would be a good first step.

it's where you are! Todays 'Blue Dog' Democrat was yesterday's moderate Republican. Why are we supposed to be happy about that?:banghead:
