It doesn't make sense for the GOP to be trashing O'Donnell

And I mean from the GOP base point of view. O'Donnell actually stands for what the GOP claims to stand for, and Mike Castle doesn't. The GOP base which very enthusiastically embraces all that crap should be really pissed, they shouldn't stand for it. They probably will, however, because they are also mindless. They won't notice that it doesn't make sense.

It reminds me of the Katherine Harris affair. She was seriously the darling of the right-wingers, and the Florida GOP turned on her, HARD, when they had to. It was ugly. I don't know how they got away with it with their base, but they appear to have gotten away with it.

By the way, whatever happened to Ms. Harris?

but I can't see any advantageous angle that would boost the GOP's credibility at this point.

Unless it's simply some sort of shiny distraction and nothing else.

The reversal that would have to come from various party leaders who have effectively called her a wack-job wouldn't be believable.

Even if the national party tried to pull a reverse I still don't see the state party (which knows her better than anyone) changing their assessment of her.

As a result, some of the more sane GOPers will let their voting fingers do the walking over the the Democratic candidate. It's all good.
