Christine O'Donnell: AIDS Gets Too Much Gov't Money, Condoms Wouldn't Stop It
Long before Tea Party backed candidate Christine O'Donnell won the Republican primary in Delaware and became the GOP Senate nominee, the conservative firebrand was arguing that the government was spending too much money fighting AIDS and said condoms wouldn't stop the disease from spreading.

You already know about O'Donnell's extreme views on sex and porn, and you've seen the video of her campaign against masturbation.

Now TPM has unearthed a 1997 C-SPAN video that shows O'Donnell voicing concerns that a drag queen ball "celebrates the type of lifestyle which leads to the disease," objecting to terming those with AIDS "victims" and calling AIDS a consequence of a certain "lifestyle which brings about this disease."

After complaining that "there is a gross disproportionate allocation of funds" going to AIDS treatment and prevention in comparison to resources designated to combat heart disease, O'Donnell compared living healthier to changing the "lifestyle" that she said lead to AIDS.

"When somebody finds out that they're at high risk for heart disease, they cut out the fatty foods, they start exercising, they quit smoking. However, our approach to AIDS, when you're in a high risk behavior, is to eliminate the consequences so that you can continue in your lifestyle which brings about this disease," O'Donnell said.

Referring to people who get AIDS as victims, O'Donnell said, was "the kind of spinning with words and manipulating words that empowers the bias when it comes to AIDS."

O'Donnell also took issue with government spending on preventative programs. "A lot of the money that we're spending goes to things that we know will not prevent AIDS, but indeed will continue to spread the disease," she said. "A lot of our money goes to distribute condoms in high schools, and a lot of our money goes to distribute material that is literally pornographic."

1. Sounds like she's a tad obsessed about sex to me. Not
to mention uninformed and delusional.

3. What ever you say about her.
She is genuine, you might not believe what she does, but she does believe it, and that is what people are seeing in her speeches.

7. How can you be sure?
I tend to agree with you, I think she's a genuine fundy nutcase, but I'm not certain she's not just doing it for some quick fame and cash. I can't be sure that she's not just trying to be the next Palin.

She is not a bad person, hence why negative attacks probably backfired on castle.

If her views are wrong on government, it would be an education thing, or a knowledge thing, not an intent thing.

A campaign against her should be respectful but pointing out her policy thoughts on issues. Not going for cheap shots.

Cheap shots will help her.

14. She is mouthing a bunch of lies, inuendo and trash here
She most certainly is a bad person. This is some of the most reprehensible language I have seen out of anyone on the subject. Her intention is to spread misinformation and lies about important public health issues while posing as a potential public servant.
The homophobia and racism lurking in her words are enough to see that her intentions are rotten to the core.

2. Proving once again...
...that the late, great George Carlin was wrong every time he suggested that women would never fuck up the world the way that men have.

Bachmann, Palin, O'Donnell: Game, set, match.

13. I HAD forgotten her!
"there is no such thing as society. There are individual men and women, and there are families."

For that quote alone, I'd love to see her boiled in oil.

15. This woman is absolutely worthless and makes Bachmann seem well adjusted.

Does she not realize that straight people contract AIDS as well as "teh gays"? Has she not considered that someone who doesn't know their spouse is cheating on them can contract the disease through no fault of their own? Or that babies are born with the disease from their parents? Is she all for just throwing existing AIDS patients under the bus and not trying to give them better treatment or re-integrate them into society?

These teabaggers are evil, hateful people.

And they can all get fucked.

18. She probably thinks that masturbation leads to AIDS.
She'd probably praise spending government money on masturbation-abation programs. ;-)

19. Disturbing

She actually said using condoms won't help prevent the spread of AIDS?

What fooking planet is she living on.

Just think...in 12 months with enough lunatics like her running around with their willing lackeys in the media, there may be 'some doubt' as to whether condoms do help prevent the spread of AIDS.

She is dangerous, because she is so ingorant.
