Calvin College cancels The New Pornographers concert because of the band's name

The New Pornographers concert at Calvin College has been canceled because of the band's name.

The college released a statement explaining, "after weeks of discussion and consideration, the irony of the band's name was impossible to explain to many. The band's name, to some, is mistakenly associated with pornography. Consequently, Calvin, to some, was mistakenly associated with pornography. Neither the college nor the band endorses pornography."

... The New Pornographers are a critically acclaimed indie-rock outfit fronted by singers A.C. Newman and Neko Case. Newman reportedly named the band after a 1966 Japanese satirical film titled "The Pornographers."

I lived close by in Holland and let me tell ya ...what can you expect from an area where Eric Prince was hatched ...and there's a lot more like him there. Bunch of fucked up ultra conservative Dutch factory slaves and religious fanatics. I'm surprised they haven't burned a Quran yet.

in the Bay Area that every couple of years tries to get TPTB to change the name of the local mountain, Mt. Diablo, saying that the name invokes Satan.
