WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans voiced opposition Wednesday to a move by Democrats to tack onto a defense bill a measure that could provide citizenship to illegal immigrants serving in the U.S. military.
The so-called DREAM Act amendment would also clear the way for students who were brought into this country illegally to gain citizenship after succeeding or excelling in school.
