Cold, Sobering Reality hit me in the face hard today

I have all kinds of problems right now in my life that include health, needing to do something to keep from going under financially, but I found myself feeling like I had few problems. We went to the local reservation here today and I as looked at the dwellings that were in many cases shacks that few in our community would live in. I thought to myself as bad as I am concerned about my future living arrangements (I think I have it worked out if all goes as planned) and thought what if I lived here. The answer I came up with was no way why would anyone want to live like this. I thought wow this was once a proud nation who had this land, and today they live like this. Yep, I thought we are a cruel nation. I then thought of the choctaws back in my home area I grew up in and spent most of my life so far in. The Choctaws started looking better off with gambling so the people got jealous and started wanting to get some of that income. They did. Here in Maricopa Co. Az. there was the Hayworth scandal that screwed these people and also the Choctaws, and yet what I saw today really saddens me. Oh well they lost and we kicked their asses so they are getting what they deserve for trying to stop us from stealing their land.

3. Hayworth was involved with Frank Abramoff. It was a Native American lobbyist in DC

who worked with the tribes being scammed to expose and convict Abramoff and bring out his connection with Hayworth.

4. Here is the sad part of all of this

The Native American's fate is sealed. There just isn't enough of them left to present much of a voice or mean enough to the average American to even make a ripple to do anything for these folks. It is pretty much a dead issue, and to me that is the saddest part of the story.

is a member of the Navajo Nation. I have been working with Native Americans for the past seven years through my Native Unity blog and find that several INDNs are running for publc office this year with most of them being Democrats. It's a start!!!!

I hope he fails to find a job other than rat catcher in the deepest darkest part of Washington DC for minimum wages and no bennies.

I hope he is not allowed to politicize or lobby as part of his parole. Violation of that parole needs to be life in prison without any possible chance of parole.

9. I used to get mad at my husband and refused to talk to him

He was from ND and used to brag that when an Indian was walking down the street and saw a white person they would step out in to the road and let them pass and he would laugh about it. I got so angry I would just finally shut up. I would say to him, this was their land before it was ours.

Then he passed away and after I retired I went into researching genealogy. Guess what I found that my 4th great grandmother was a full bloodied Manochoc Indian from Virginia. I think I spelled that correctly I always forget how. But they were a combination of several tribes in the Virginia area. They were a relatively unknown tribe. But wouldn't it have been something if I could have told him that.

10. I have to say this

I saw the Choctaws but never went on their reservation. I saw the Lakotas and met a few of them but really didn't pay much attention to their conditions when I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB South Dakota. Today I was ashamed of myself for not being more aware.

have letters where he tried to get restitution and/or compensation for land unlawfully confiscated. The sad reality is that this country sux!

I've got some serious problems in my life, then something like you posted comes to my attention and suddenly my problems seem so small in comparison.
