3. I'm not enthusiastic, but I will vote; you can bet on that
And once that vote is cast, it counts the same as a knuckle dragging teabagger who has been chomping at the bit to vote for months.

Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 08:29 AM by golddigger
comes out with the Dem's are not enthusiastic to vote and the media picks it up and runs with it.

Then the media ignores the fact that O'Donnell only received 30,000 votes out 167,000 Republican registered voters.

The media has an agenda.

Edited to add republians.

8. It Fits The Narative...
This is what the corporate media wants...a divided country and whipping up "excitement" that feathers their nest in the long run. Rushpublicans have been pouring billions into teevee ads and if you don't think that money doesn't buy some favorable coverage, I've got a bridge to nowhere to sell you.

Also ya gotta give the GOOP credit. By being out of power they can bitch about everything and not have to be held accountable (not that they ever were). Their "base" has been whipped and whipped and this is what the corporate media sees...the squeaky wheels getting the grease.

Of course there's an "entuhsiasm gap" during the primaries. Most Democratic nominees ran unopposed while the GOOP was a freak show of teabaggers who seem to try to be more outrageous than the next. They're all wetting themselves over O'Donnell who drew maybe 2% of the total vote using 2008 figures...not even a plurality of rushpublican as many stayed home.

Of course the GOOP is more enthusiastic than Democrats. They haven't had to govern or do anything to help fix the messes their boy booooshie and his war criminals created and now, with the help of the corporate media, are blaming every problem on the Democrats.

Cheers...

9. thing is
. . . these midterms are usually decided by a majority of folks who show up to vote 'against' something or someone. The republican appeals to fear and hatred are much easier persuasions than our party's mostly policy-oriented appeal. I'm not sure that there's enough of the anti-republican fervor still around from the last election to spark a national wave of Democrats to the polls (especially those newly-registered voters who elected our president). I hope we can generate one or two major persuasions and amplify them enough before the election to motivate voters to the polls outside of our base of dependable Democrats who regularly vote in these congressional and Senate mid-terms.

12. Is this the first year it has been meaningless?
This measure (and others) worked pretty well in 2006 and 2008 when a pro-Dem enthusiasm gap was identified using the same methods.
