Polls for President and Democrats not as bleak as first glance
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — Don’t count the Democrats out in the upcoming midterm elections . . . That’s the upshot of two polls released Thursday (Politico and CBS/Times) . . .

. . . the CBS/Times survey said that while 70% of voters disapprove of the way Congress is handling its duties, almost as many, 68%, disapprove of the way Republicans in Congress are performing, compared with 20% who approve.

The CBS/Times poll also gives a less unfavorable rating to Democrats in Congress, with 58% disapproving of their job performance compared with 30% of those who do approve.

The two surveys had one other encouraging word for Democrats in that President Barack Obama, while suffering in approval ratings, still ranks high in personal appeal and is not being blamed entirely for the economy, according to Politico/GWU.

Obama gets the blame for the economy by 11% of voters in that poll, but the bulk of the blame goes to George W. Bush (25%), financial firms (20%) and Congress (15%). And while Obama’s job approval ratings are near all-time lows at 45%, his personal appeal remains at 65%.

1. End Tax Cuts for the Rich and get a microphone and t.v. camera in front of
every nutcase tea bagger we can find (starting with O'Donnell), and we've got a winner!

2. The other problem the polls are making is assuming the tea party elements are necessarily republican
There is no doubt the tea party is extreme right wing, however, they do not align themselves with the republicans, and that SHOULD hurt them in the upcoming election, and help the Democrats

3. If they were running independent candidates
It would definitely hurt the republicans.

This could still hurt them. I hope.
