A Hypothetical...?
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 05:56 PM by kentuck
If you were a wealthy person, and you wanted to be a US Senator, would you run as a Democrat or a Republican?

And what would you realistically evaluate before you made the decision?

If you were a Republican for most of your life but you now live in a Democratic state, would you change your registration to the Democratic Party?

Would that not be the ideal position from which to work for your interests, as well as the Republican Party interests?

You could work for "bi-partisanship" and define yourself as a moderate, centrist Democrat.

You could vote with the Democrats on many issues but on the really big issues, you could vote with the "opposition" Party, the Republicans.

Now, I'm not saying that our Party has any of these types of Republicans, posing as wealthy Democrats, but there is no better place to work for the Republican Party than smack dab in the middle of the Democratic Party.

Any ideas on the subject??

edited to add:

We know that some of our wealthiest Democrats vote a good Party line. There is no question where their loyalties might lie.
