I am here in Mexico City... yes it is humid as hell, since this is the effect of this little hurricane.

So here is one observation... vis a vis Katrina. I am listening right now to the briefing from Civil Defense... I remember Katrina where we really got as little info as possible. Here they are telling us how much water fell, where and how it has affected. They are going into deep detail into what is being moved into the zone, and who... and of course the application of the DN-III disaster services plan from the armed forces.

Yes, it is highly technical, but this is the kind of briefing that should be done, including things like NOT crossing bodies of water, since water is still rising. In fact, this is the kind of brief that citizens deserve. Oh and no President making jokes about ... a hell of a job brownie.

1. Sadly, it's not much better now.

You'd think a country that can fly people to the moon, cure polio, and design the world's best microprocessors would be able to provide an appropriate briefing to its citizens in a time of natural disaster.

In the U.S. it's probably all been outsourced to Blackwater and AccuWeather.
