What happens if O'Donnell drops out of the race?
Does Coons run unopposed?

Does the GOP get to just stick someone else in that slot?

Anyone know?

1. they probably could
if a candidate drops out, the party can fill the spot within a certain amount of time before the election

don't know what the deadline would be though

She's the new Teabagging Darling.

6. Well, she might get an offer she can't refuse
if you know what I mean. I wouldn't put it past the GOP leadership to strongarm her.

11. The Bill Maher clip of her claiming to have dappled in witchcraft
She is TOOOOOOAAAAAST.

Karl Rove was right. They assuredly have much worse info on her than Maher does. They will oust her to get someone else in before it is too late.

5. I feel pretty confident that O'Donnell will ride the "Victim" card
to the bitter end. Those teabagger sycophants will just double down in their "Lame Stream Media" accusations and all the out-of-state $$ will probably carry her to election day. A sense of shame seems to be missing in Sarah Palin and among her minions.

But, it is interesting to contemplate.

7. She won't drop out
The Koch brothers will pay all her bills and pay off the IRS and buy her wonderful clothes and Fox will promise her her own show and she'll get to Dance with the Stars and write her bloviations and have her books guaranteed to sell in volume. She'll get to tweet and pull everyone's chain and make millions just blathering thoughtless idiocies.

13. One little problem... The true Powers That Be are "in it to win it".
There are very powerful business forces that want to continue the rape of this country. They want the Repubs in power and the backroom true leaders of the GOP are most assuredly working to get her off the ballot.

I will eat my shoes if she isn't pushed out very soon.

8. Why would she do that?
She's getting so much attention and loving every minute of it. She's dumber than a box of rocks but would blend right in with all the rest of the GOP Senators should she actually win.

9. Cold day in hell she drops out. She's in it for her own ego as much as anything else.

When she gets crushed in the general election she'll blame anybody and everybody but herself.

10. She won't drop out. She'll be able to live a couple of years on the
money she siphons from her campaign fund. If she dropped out, she'd have no income and end up in a shelter somewhere. No fun for her.

15. O'Donnell may have legal issues such as misappropriated
funds from her previous election runs. Her prior campaign manager said she spent the money on rent and other expenses.

17. It happened yesterday in the RI race for Lt Gov. I don't know about DE, but in RI
there's a deadline for a statewide primary winner to drop out and a deadline for the party chair to name a replacement: After those deadlines have passed, apparently the candidate's name stays on the ballot on the party's ballot-line.

Something similar happens in DC: While Mayor Adrien Fenty lost the Democratic primary, in the same election he got 800 write-in votes on the Republican primary ballot, and had a chance to decline the nomination.

From http://newsblog.projo.com/2010/09/gop-primary-winner-drops-out-o.html :

"Update: GOP primary winner drops out of RI lt. gov. race
By Katherine Gregg, Providence Journal State House Bureau
5:03 PM Fri, Sep 17, 2010

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Days after winning the Republican primary, Heidi Rogers has dropped out of the race for lieutenant governor this afternoon.

That leaves two Independents in a race against the $99,214 a year incumbent Democrat Elizabeth Roberts....

The deadline for candidates to withdraw their names from the ballot -- or for a party chairman to name a replacement -- is 4 p.m. Rogers came in just under the wire. ...."
