Of course I am liberal.
Being a christian demands me being liberal.

Of course, I'll never be as liberal as Christ. He was perfect.

1. I like it.
I have wanted liberal Christians to speak out more often for years now. I love the way you worded that.

3. That they do...
...it's like they are in competition with religion.

My Gawd they are!! (lightbulb moment)

On the one hand Christ says: be cool, think of others and don't amass treasures.
And the M$M preaches: get hot, think only of yourself, and get all you can.

Who's gonna win? Interesting times.....

4. I think liberal Christians outnumber the conservative ones. But the
right-wing news media rarely, if ever, mention the liberal ones.
You've got to stick together and make some noise in order to be
of help to your cause - even if making noise is not your style.

5. MLK is mentioned by the M$M
Edited on Mon Sep-27-10 10:30 AM by BeFree
And some say he was crucified?

His non-violent actions are to be emulated.

Is there anywhere, today, a leader such as he?

8. Yes, usually on MLK Day. There is a MLK Day because he was
such a great man.

7. They don't found their politics upon Christ
Hillary actually tried to speak to this somewhat. Liberal Christians use their morality to drive their political views, but they don't argue their political views based upon their own morality. They tend to base their arguments more in science, logic, and the social contract. The right on the other hand tends to justify their political views based upon their religious faith, eschewing science, logic, and the social contract. And as the OP points out, that is strangely sad considering that Jesus Christ is probably the most liberal character in history. Much of the social contract is based in a great degree upon the moral philosophy he represents.

9. Yes, Christ was the prototype of the liberal. "Blessed are the poor,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven, Blessed are the meek.... The right-wingers
are only for the rich and the proud. I wonder how they reconcile their beliefs
with Christianity?
