Perhaps it was the claim that a Repub could be greener than a Dem some people didn't like, and which made them decide to unrec it, or perhaps it was just the lack of a link to the original story (I assume it did come from somewhere else, since it has direct quotes from people)?

But it's not that surprising. A thread gains 5 initial recommendations, which puts it on the Greatest page, and that gives it some more visibility, and sometimes that includes some DUers who think it doesn't belong on the Greatest page, and thus unrec it. That's life, on DU. :shrug:
