1. What does he really have to offer?
He's meant to be a gladhanding, backslapping inside-the-beltway powerbroking Senator. He has risen to the height he was meant to rise to.

but the latest infantile, idiotic, "run for your lives the racists are coming" crap is not the reason to drop out. Most asenine topic I've read here yet. Thanks.

8. Do not underestimate his appeal
to people who consider themselves Independents and somewhat apolitical. He is good at speaking directly and forcefully, especially concerning foreign affairs. He is also good at teaching and explaining in his public appearances - in terms most everyone can understand.

The bankruptcy legislation sunk him for me - but he does connect with some people.

10. He used to have a certain charisma and charm. He's become a bit of a loose cannon.
Sometimes he will take bold stances against Bushist idiocy, as when he held firm against the return of Star Wars, even right after 9-11. But then he says the stupidest things about how much he loves certain Republicans. And he is untrustworthy on Iraq, as far as I am concerned. I can't trust that he's where most Americans are on it. (Then again, I can't trust that Obama and Hillary are there either.)

4. No, he shouldn't withdraw. What he said came out wrong, but I don't think he's a racist
and it's not as bad as the infamous Jesse Jackson "hymie town" comment from 1984 (and certainly Rev. Jackson was/is a articulate and clean AA)and he didn't leave the race. In fact, Jesse won several primaries in '84 and '88 (I voted for him in '88 too).

13. I didn't vote, because it isn't my choice...it is his....
However I will say that he should do what he wants to do.

However, as the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, he really has a lot of work to do for us in the Senate in the next two years. Wouldn't he be more valuable there, in terms of doing the people's business. Well, I certainly think so!

17. clearly he's going to be fun to watch
He said something stupid, I don't think he meant it the way it came out, cackling ensued, and he got spanked for it pretty good. Another day in politics.
