Suicides do not leave typed suicide notes, with even the signature signed.

Anyone catch "48 Hours Mystery" last Saturday? Kari Baker, wife of Matt Baker, supposedly committed suicide and left a typed note. Even the SIGNATURE was signed.

No autopsy was done, death was ruled a suicide. Several months later, friends and family of Kari persuaded police to re-open the case.

They did and ultimately, Matt Baker was found guilty of first-degree murder.

It's incredible to me that anyone would put any credibility in a TOTALLY TYPED suicide note.

5. Leap to judgement
Cop mentality is once they have a suspect, they quit thinking about other possibilities and home in on evidence to convict the chosen suspect.

In this case, they homed in on suicide and, presto, they have a closed case.

11. My dad once probated a suicide note as a will.
Back in the fifties. He had a client who had a serious drug and alcohol problem who eventually killed herself. The note said, "I can't go on, I leave all to Mother."

True story.
