This group is 54% Democratic (30% Republican.)

They approve Obama's job by 51% and favor the HCR bill 50%-36%

Most (60%) have only a high school education or less. 70% are less than 50 years old.

They favor bigger government and more services. (52%) They don't like the war in Afghanistan and have little interest in gun rights. They are evenly split on gay marriage.

And they are the biggest American political demographic.


Who are they?


Non-voters.

5. Jury duty

They're afraid to register and risk being called to serve on a jury. They can't afford the time off from work and the loss of pay.

That's what keeps a lot of them from registering, whether or not the voting rolls are used to pick jury pools.

Jurors should be paid at least as much as an attorney gets paid for a day's work.

But, have you heard of motor voter?

7. I was looking at the demographic trying to

figure what traditional bloc the non-voters most resemble, attitude wise.

Nobody is a perfect match but Hispanics are closest.

And Hispanics do vote less than any other group, I think. (Except maybe 18-29?)

And, for a variety of reasons, Hispanic Americans have the least interest in filling out government forms, showing ID, being "in the system."

Which the Republicans know well, with their billboards saying INS agents are at polling places and such.

You don't need to be illegal to not want to have to show your papers -- consider the AZ law.

A good number Hispanic citizens know people who are not citizens and perhaps not here legally, including family members. It is not a group that sees a big upside to attracting govt. attention.

do the 'approve or favor' all of that, if they are not willing to vote for it?

of Americans will have voted. Sixty % will not vote.

9. Voting needs to be moved from the rights column to the duty column. Like jury duty.

If you want to avoid a visit from the sherrif you must vote. You don't get to kick back on you ass and let your country fall into the hands of .... blah blah blah
