How many trick or treaters did you get? I got three!

OMG. three trick or treaters! Felt like I was held hostage, sitting there with my big bowl of candy for hours. OMG.

I'm in the burbs and we had quite a few trick-or-treaters. We probably had 60 or so.

However, most of my friends in the area said the traffic was lighter than usual.

Is this a trend? If so, why?

We had some 4-500 pieces of candy and were left with about 50. I started giving out 2 pieces and had to drop to 1 about halfway through.

I used to buy 7-8 bags of candy bars, but the local businesses started a fun night downtown, so not as many come out door-to-door anymore. I was happy to see so many parents with the children and all but one said, "Thank you!" Nice group this year.

This was not our block's year.

But we always keep a couple of handfuls of contraband candy on Halloween for the Milwaukee kids who cross into 'Tosa (we are about 4 houses south of the city limit. If there had been many more I would have been reduced to handing out part of my bumper crop of butternut squash.

It's one of those suburban places inhabited by fearful people.

Nothing happens here without the oversight of one committee or another. House paint, fence design in frontyards, etc.

It's the sort of place you might expect a commitee called W.A.C.C.O. (Wauwatosa Administrative Committee on Christmas Ornamentation) to restrain gouche secular decorations and vigorously defend Christmas against celebrations using the Gregorian calendar.

18. I have always wanted to hand out candy

But nobody ever show up at our door.

I remember our first year here buying candy and waiting, waiting...no one came.

It's been like that every year, so we don't even bother buying anymore.

I guess living on an apt building in the city is not very inviting.

Do we go to the near mall which always invites children TOT.

I love to see the kiddies so happy in their costumes. I love seeing families sharing a theme (dad Darth Vader, mom Princes Leiah, son Luke, baby Yoda or R3D2). so much joy and fun!

How can anyone see evilness in this?

The only evilness I see is from stores who post signs saying "We're out of candy" as soon as the mall opens!

No close neighbors, so it's not surprising that kids don't want to bother coming out this way.

I live in the country. When my kids were small, some of their friends would stop by with their parents, on their way into town. I miss trick or treaters.

Classic post WWII neighborhood with modest houses, small lots, lots of kids.

Prime trick or treat neighborhood, complete with the grandparents at the end of the street who give out king sized candy bars every year.

A bunch of us host a block party for the grown-ups so we can hang outside and watch the kids without being too bored (the spiced cider helps).

I'm down in Aliso Viejo visiting my sister. She went out trick or treating with my nieces and nephews. I stayed behind. We got about three hundred. Lots of little ones, many cute costumes. I have to say, I was very impressed with how polite most of them were, especially the little ones. So cute!

The churches here have hijacked the kids from the neighborhoods, with their 'trunk or treats', etc. When I was growing up, that was how we got to know our neighbors. It's sad that 'stranger danger' has robbed the children of what used to be great fun. Just another score for Bin Laden.

first time in 3 years. We did it up, got lots of candy...and waited, and waited. We did get about 10 kids but most go to those church fall festivals and stuff. So, at 8 PM, we folded up the chairs, turned off the lights and went to the movies. It's different here.

kids, adults, people drove in to trick or treat. We are in an area with a lot of kids, and in a major city so people drive around to look for active neighborhoods. Many of the houses decorated here, that sort of thing. My husband took the kids around and I gave away 10 large bags of candy by 9:00 and had to turn the porch light off.
