Healthcare repeal should be fun if the GOP wins.
Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 01:07 PM by gulliver
I like the GOP position on HCR if they win back the House. Here is the way I see it playing out.

The Republicans are forced to try to repeal HCR, or the Tea Party will secede. So Republicans open up the healthcare can of worms again. The American public groans. Obama challenges Republicans to open debate on the issue. Like last time, Obama singlehandedly tosses the entire Republican caucus around like rag dolls. Result: Single Payer.

1. They'd remove all patient protections, but keep the mandate
Both parties know this is exactly what will happen

No politician is going to 'give' us single payer.

We have to demand it

7. Sorry I got confused. Dodd is a Senator, but he vowed the
Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection will not be funded unless Elizabeth Warren is exposed to a witch hunt in the Senate - I mean, is brought before the Senate.

Thanks for straightening that up for me!

6. I think that will end up in a showdown too.
You are probably right, but I still think it ends the same way. They can't avoid a fight with Obama that they started. And once you get them on TV with Obama, it's all over for them. It will be like a Bruce Lee movie.

4. Really they can't repeal it because most of it was taken from their ideas.
Imagine them trying to repeal it and then supporting Romney in 2012?? He's their only "logical" candidate in 2012 and it will be impossible for them to support him with so much of HCR being taken from his plan in Massachushetts.

12. Now that Big Insurance has figured it out, they're not going to repeal it.
Just tweak it to generate even MORE money for them. They win either way.
