Everyone is right. Jon Stewart is, too. Jesus effin Christ, people!
How was this point lost on so many of us? I'm a total raging liberal, and yet I completely understand what Stewart was saying; my Republican friends -- yes, I have some -- actually believe what Fox is saying, and ONLY what Fox is saying. And for everything WE post about Fox and Hannity and Beck and O'Reilly, there are minions on the other side who believe the same things about KO and Rachel and Ed.

You have to understand that reality first. We think we're pure...hey, maybe we are...but the people that hate us view Keith and Rachel exactly -- EXACTLY -- the same way as we view Hannity and O'Reilly.

When DU posters say, "YEAH, but we have facts on our side!", understand that the Freepers are saying the same thing about KO and Rachel.

And that leads back to Stewart's message...the word "fact" seems to depend upon what you already believe in. And that is what the media is playing upon.

Or maybe it's just me.

1. The right's view of KO and Rachel is rebound projection.
Psychologically they need to see KO and Rachel the same way we see Beck et al.
It's a defense mechanism in order to stay in denial.

ENTERTAINERS.

3. THANK you!

We need one more run at a circular firing squad before we become united again for the 2012 election (which begins Wednesday)

5. But the Repukes DON'T have the facts on their side.
Everyone IS entitled to their own opinions. So if they want to put up with BecKKK, Mush, Hannity, etc. that's up to their individual taste (or lack of, in this case).

But it does not change the FACTS. And no matter how much the reich wing tools distort the FACTS, they will never change them.

Oh, and one more thing...... My middle initial is not "F". Or "H", for that matter.

7. I thought one of Stewart's most poignant points was that
liberals and conservatives work together in the real world everyday to get things done. It's only on Capitol Hill where they do not.

I think if we were willing to work together, and will to live an let live, that we'd all be better off for it.

9. I emphatically disagree. There is such a thing as empirical truth,
and it is NOT on THEIR side.

FACT: There were no WMDs.
FACT: Pot is not addictive.
FACT: Cheney broke the law by exposing Valerie Plame
FACT: The war in Iraq was illegal from the outset.

Belief does not change reality.

Olberman and Big Ed and Rachel speaking the truth on this side is NOT the equivalent of the lies coming from Rush and Hannity and O'Liely.

So maybe it is just you.

11. more...
FACT: The United States was founded by mostly Diests, who did not believe in Christianity, and from the ideas of the Enlightenment, and NOT the Bible.

FACT: The Earth is more than 6000 years old.

FACT: Jesus did NOT preach supply side economics.

14. Facts are facts.
They aren't subject to debate. Just because Orly Taitz says she has "facts on her side" doesn't magically make it so.

No one who listens to MSNBC, has been inspired to commit a hate crime because of that.

16. If he's saying this has put us into the present (supposedly) precarious situation, why didn't he
speak up sooner rather than three days before the election? Too convenient. At least KO is consistent. Stewart thinks he feels the winds of change and lets them blow him around.

20. That was the point
it was a total deconstruction of the establishment media, and BOTH Fox and MSNBC are PART of that establishment media.

And the fact that some hosts took it personally... memo received, I think. This was not unlike the cross fire ahem, event... just with 250K guests.

Not hate Jon Stewart for being a sellout, lol, but just disagree with him. And that's okay, no Jon Stewarts will be damaged by that opinion.
