Oops. I am voting for the republican sheriff, too. He is the only candidate. But he won a primary against the do-nothing incumbent. He is a good guy, a neighbor, and a personal friend. As a deputy, he came to my house when we were having a continuing problem. All these years later, he remembers that! And he handled some problems locally a number of years ago. He was a voice of reason when some skinhead kids were trying to bully their way around the school and the town.

I know some endearingly funny personal stories about him, because this is a small town.

You know that this is the way we get good Democrats in office locally. Find well-respected neighbors and get them to agree to do some community service. If their neighbors like them, it will not matter if they are republicans or Democrats. I have seen it happen many times here, even though this is a red area. The trick is getting people to run.

He knows and does law enforcement well. I didn't vote for him when he first ran, but later I met him by chance. Carries himself well and he's not full of fluff, shit, or whatever. He runs the office very well.

By no means am I gonna hang with him at Repub. HQ or anything, but as long as he sticks with sheriff, and doesn't get cozy in the spot, he'll have my vote.

Cuomo has been very vocal about "gay marriage."

That's probably a no vote since I doubt if there's another candidate on the ballot. Aside from GOP.

I haven't decided about Cuomo. Might vote for him on Working Family line since I don't like him for a variety of reasons ( weak on GLBT, weak on unions etc. )but the other guy, a complete idiot, could concievably win. Stranger things have happened.

I am voting AGAINST our Dem County Commissioner because he is all ego and no follow thru.
Loves the office, is never available to people who need to talk to him.

Our town is small enough that a few votes will make a big difference in some races, and is Republican enough that a few write-ins are the only option in some races where there are firm Blue Dogs or obviously strawmen on the ballot.

70. I wish I could vote straight Dem, as usual, but this time I can't.

There is one Democrat running in one of our local races who since the primaries has been caught lying about where she lives, had drivers licenses in both Indiana and Michigan, cars registered there when she supposedly lives here, gets the senior exemption on her property tax when the house is in her father's name and he's been dead since 1953, it just goes on and on. I just can't vote for her. I don't know if I can force myself to push the button for her republican opponent, so maybe I'll just skip casting a vote for county assessor this time.
